NSW Community Housing Division of Housing NSW

The Office of Community Housing has the charter to undertake the strategic development of the community housing sector and promote client-focused and efficient service delivery. The Office is entrusted with ensuring the community housing system is effectively managed, operates in the public interest and is accountable to Government.

 

Housing NSW

Housing NSW is the umbrella organisation for government housing initiatives in NSW. The Department provides quality rental housing solutions for those whose needs cannot be met by the private market.

 

NSW Department of Community Services

The Department of Community Services is the main government provider of Community services in NSW. For a full rundown of the services provided by Docs see their website.

 

NSW Department of Urban Affairs and Planning

The NSW Department of Urban Affairs and Planning comprises a range of agencies that deal with planning, policy and regulation of our natural and built environment, rural and urban management (including urban growth, renewal and consolidation) and the development of housing policies.

 

Ageing & Disability Department

The NSW Ageing & Disability Department (ADD) provides a focus for service delivery to older people and people with disabilities. We are responsible for strategic policy and planning for ageing and disability in all NSW Government sectors. We implement the major funding programs and ensure that funded programs deliver results in accordance with Government policy.

Shelter NSW

Shelter NSW is a non-government organisation advocating for low-income and disadvantaged consumers of housing. Shelter is part of a national network of Shelter organisations working for a fairer housing system.

 

NSW Ecumenical Council

The Ecumenical Council is comprised of sixteen (Catholic, Protestant and Orthodox) Christian churches throughout New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory.

NSW Federation of Housing Associations

The NSW Federation of Housing Associations is the peak industry body for housing associations in NSW.  Housing Associations are not-for-profit managers and developers of low cost housing. 

 

The Federation was founded in 1993 to represent the interests of housing associations and to provide support and resources for their further development.  A history of the creation of the Federation and its early development,  Leaps and Bounds: A history Summary was written in 1999.

Australian Housing and Urban Research Institute

AHURI is Australia's only national research organisation committed to analysing and understanding these issues. AHURI is dedicated to making a real difference to housing and related urban outcomes throughout Australia by the creation and dissemination of knowledge in the areas of Housing Markets, Housing policy and programs, and the Urban environment context. AHURI fosters collaborative relationships within a cohesive network and works to build alliances with related bodies.

 

CHFA

The Community Housing Federation of Australia (CHFA) is the national peak organisation representing the views of community housing providers in Australia.

 

Founded in 1996, CHFA is a not-for-profit organisation which works to ensure members have the representation, expertise and resources needed for effective development of the sector in a changing economic and political environment, allowing community housing to develop as a viable housing option providing quality housing services to tenants.

NCOSS

NCOSS is the peak body for the social and community services sector in NSW. NCOSS works towards achieving social justice in New South Wales. Its members range from the smallest community-based services to the largest welfare organisations. They include refuges, charities, church groups, local councils, consumer organisations, hospitals, and aged, disability and child care services. They also include peak support and advocacy groups that represent services at a regional and Statewide level.

 

ACOSS

The Australian Council of Social Service (ACOSS) is the national peak council of the community welfare sector in Australia - the principal voice of low income and disadvantaged people in social and economic policy matters. ACOSS aims to end poverty and help build a just and inclusive society that values difference and the right of all people and communities to the social and economic resources they need to control their own lives.
