Churches Housing

Churches Housing seeks to facilitate public church partnerships based on the understanding that churches have significant underutilised land/buildings that can be developed as viable community housing projects.   Churches Housing encourages dialogue between the parties by educating churches, by facilitating meetings and projects, and by mediating between churches and public agencies to deliver an increase in the number of community housing units for people in housing need.

Churches Housing works closely with the Community Housing Division of Housing NSW and the Centre for Affordable Housing, to ensure that proposals are appropriately located and targeted, and that the church/church agency has the capacity to fulfil its obligations under funding guidelines.  Churches Housing provides information to public agencies and churches regarding options and methods for utilising church-owned assets for community housing, and facilitates the development of the partnership through brokerage and mediation.  Churches Housing performs its role as objective facilitator, seeking mutually beneficial outcomes for both churches and public agencies.
